On this point-of-interest tour with audio accompaniment, you will visit the following historic locations from the life of the Godfather of Soul and hear throwback memories from his family and friends: the Bell Auditorium, Dyess Park, the James Brown Arena, the Imperial Theatre, the site of James Brown's childhood home, site of the Lenox Theatre, Silas X. Floyd School, site of The BOSS radio station, the Augusta Museum of History, the James Brown statue, Mother Trinity CME Church, and the iconic Soul Bar.

James Brown Journey Sites
Downtown Augusta is currently experiencing some construction. Some of the pass locations are disrupted or hard to navigate, but the audio clips are still a helpful guide to learning about the legacy of Augusta's Favorite Son. Please note that the James Brown Statue is in storage until further notice due to this construction project.
Remembering James Brown
On Christmas Day in 2006, the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, died. In 2016 a local new station interviewed Deanna Brown, one of James Brown's children and took the James Brown Family tour of Augusta. Enjoy this video of that experience.
