We know your furry friends have a special place in your heart. From that lovable tail wag, to their ceaseless devotion, dogs are simply the best! So who needs human friends to adventure with when you have your pup with you? Check out these 6 dog friendly adventures in Augusta's River Region!

1. Breakfast at Bodega Ultima

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and after sniffing Bodega's bacon your pup will agree! Located in Surrey Center, Bodega Ultima has an outdoor patio that's perfect for grabbing a bite with Bowser!

2. Paddle Boarding on the Augusta Canal

For the adventurous pups out there who don't mind getting a little wet! Hit the water with your dog at Savannah Rapids Park at the headgates of the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area. Any local will tell you the canal is the best place to kayak or paddle board! If you're looking for dry land, the canal also has walking trails to explore with Fido.

3. Exploring Nature at Phinizy Swamp

Adventure into the wild with your little wolf at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Stroll the boardwalk and trails while looking for blue herons, red-shouldered hawks, river otters, and maybe even an elusive alligator in their natural habitat. Meet up with other pet owners and pups at the Walk Your Pet Hike on select Saturdays at Phinizy.

4. Camping at Mistletoe State Park

Located just northwest of Augusta, Mistletoe State Park is a great place to spend the afternoon with Snoopy. There's almost 2000 acres to explore. So, you and your pup pal can enjoy the lake, nature trails, camping, or just a relaxing nap in the great outdoors!

5. Climbing around at Rea's Creek Aqueduct Park

Sniff out some history with Rover at this pre-Civil War structure, now part of the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area. Rea's Creek Aqueduct has the best waterfalls in Augusta's River Region and makes for a great spot for your doggie to cool off.

6. Dinner at the Pizza Joint

All of that adventure makes for one hungry pup (and person). Grab a delicious slice of local pizza at the Pizza Joint in downtown Augusta. The patio is dog friendly, and so is the pepperoni. After dinner, walk right out into downtown Augusta and stroll Broad Street. It's the perfect way to end a great day of adventures with your puppy pal.
