Home to grandiose history, gorgeous green spaces, and golf’s Masters Tournament, Augusta, Georgia, should be on every traveler’s must-visit list. Thanks to the city’s abundance of adventure parks, family-friendly restaurants, kid-centric attractions, and outdoor spaces, it’s also the perfect destination for a weekend family getaway. We’ve compiled the ideal, action-packed, kid-friendly weekend itinerary so you can sit back, relax (occasionally), and make magnificent memories with the family.

Friday

  • Check in to the beautiful, conveniently located Sheraton Augusta Hotel
  • Swing by the historic Aqueduct Park to stretch your legs after your travels. Take a 0.5-mile path from the Lake Olmstead Trailhead to a gushing 35-foot waterfall!
  • Head to TopGolf for an evening of family fun, food, and drinks — both cocktails and mocktails. Whether you decide on mini golf, the driving range, or both, everyone in the family is guaranteed a good time.
  • To celebrate the golf wins, swing by Summerville Scoops and enjoy the sweet taste of victory.
  • Back at the hotel, let the kids play in the Sheraton’s pool before passing out for the night in comfy beds.

Saturday

  • Start your family’s day the healthy way with a fresh, organic breakfast at The Treehouse!
  • Get outside and enjoy a walk down the North Augusta Greeneway. Stop by Riverview Park and let the littles burn off breakfast, courtesy of a splash pad, playground, and even a disc golf course.
  • Head to the Augusta Canal and book a boat tour! Stop by the Augusta Canal Discovery Center, where the kids can learn about the rich history of Augusta’s waterways. Admission is free with any boat tour!
  • Frozen yogurt for lunch? Yes, please. Stop by Whipped Creamery and create your personalized healthy-ish dessert. Gotta keep the energy up for the adventures ahead, after all.
  • Foster your family’s creative side at Artsy Me in nearby Evans, an interactive art studio where you and the kids can paint pottery or fuse glass.
  • Grab an early dinner at the SNO-CAP Drive-In. Burgers. Fries. Hot Dogs. What’s not to love?
  • Once the sun sets, the fun has just begun. Head to Stars and Strikes for bowling, bumper cars, and laser tag! Or, if you’d rather use your brain instead of your brawn, your family can work together to escape from a terrible fate at Mastermind Escape Rooms
  • You’re on vacation, which means late-night ice cream is allowed. Stop by Pink Dipper for an old-fashioned scoop on your way back to the hotel!

Sunday

  • The early bird gets the pool! Let your kids enjoy the Sheraton’s swimming area while you enjoy a few moments of rest. And coffee.
  • Grab a quick, tasty breakfast, donuts to go, and probably some more coffee at EN Donuts.
  • Keep the fun soaring at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park
  • Experience Augusta & Co. to taste the iconic Stuckey's Candy and sweet treats. Trust us, your kids will agree that it’s well worth the visit.
  • Mosey back downtown and swing by the play structures of Dyess Park to balance out the recent sugar overload. Or, head to Phinizy Center and Nature Park, throw on your lab coats, and become Citizen Scientists!
  • Thought your adrenaline rush was over for the day? Think again. Book a thrilling and informative kayak tour of the Savannah River
  • Head to Mellow Mushroom for unique, funky, well-deserved pizza.
  • Head back to the Sheraton, pack for tomorrow’s travels, and book your next trip back to Augusta.

With so many kid-friendly destinations and activities all over town, the only hard part of your trip will be fitting everything into one weekend. So plan your next trip, and come back for another visit to the Feel Good City for more family-friendly fun.
