Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Augusta’s 30th Annual Hispanic Festival at the Augusta Common from September 12-13. This lively event features Latin music, delicious food, and family-friendly activities that honor the rich traditions of Hispanic culture. It’s a joyful, colorful celebration that brings the community together in the heart of downtown. Hispanic Heritage Month occurs from September 15-October 15, so be sure to check out our calendar for more fun events!
The Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival
From September 19-21, downtown Augusta becomes a kaleidoscope of culture during the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival. With over 100 artists at the crafts market, five stages of live entertainment, and global cuisine from more than 20 countries, this award-winning event transforms downtown and is a feast for the senses. Kids will love the Family Fun Zone, and everyone can enjoy a variety of performances from music stars and comedians.
Oktoberfest
Break out the big mugs! Join the Bavarian cheer on Saturday, September 27, to celebrate Oktoberfest in Augusta. Beginning at 4pm, start your pub crawl and bar-hopping. Enjoy great food, beer, and live music all night long. Whether you're donning lederhosen or just there for the pints, Oktoberfest is a great way to relax into the autumn season with friends and family.
IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta
Augusta hosts one of North America’s largest IRONMAN 70.3 competitions every year, and this year, you can join on September 28. Athletes from around the world tackle a 1.2-mile swim in the Savannah River, a 56-mile bike ride through scenic Georgia country, and a 13.1-mile run along the North Augusta Greeneway. Spectators can cheer on participants and enjoy exclusive local perks throughout the weekend. It’s a thrilling event that finishes in downtown Augusta and showcases the city’s spirit of endurance and hospitality.
Greek Festival
Hosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Augusta’s beloved Greek Festival is an annual celebration that brings the flavors, music, and traditions of Greece right to the heart of Augusta. From October 2-5, enjoy authentic Greek dishes like spanakopita, tyropita, baklava, and more. Come enjoy Greek music and dancing with your friends and family. You don’t have to look far to escape to the Mediterranean… and no passport required!
Local Haunts
Step back in time with Historic Augusta’s Walk with the Spirits, held annually at Magnolia Cemetery. This guided tour introduces visitors to notable citizens from Augusta’s past and walks them through the history of the Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church cemetery. Experience a unique blend of history and storytelling that brings Augusta’s heritage to life in a beautiful, reflective setting. Join on October 25 and 26 from 2-5pm.
If you love a good ghost story, don’t miss the Augusta Ghosts Tour, offered nightly by US Ghost Adventures. Explore haunted landmarks like the Cursed Pillar, the Old Medical College, and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art while hearing spine-tingling tales of Augusta’s eerie past. It’s a fun and educational way to experience the supernatural side of the city. You may even see a “ghost” or two!
And because one ghost tour isn’t enough, don’t miss Augusta Adventure Tours’ creative and interactive ghost tours. Seek thrills and chills throughout the haunted streets with a group led by local owner and tour guide, Michael Wolff. History ghost tours are held on Friday and Saturday evenings and run about two hours. Reservations are required, so call to book your spot soon!
Foodees Food & Culture Festival
Back for its second helping on November 7-9, the Georgia Foodees Food and Culture Festival is a FREE, three-day celebration of flavor held at Freedom Bridge and downtown Augusta. Eat at over 70 delicious food trucks, browse handmade crafts from artisan vendors, and watch live demos of master chefs at this paradise for food lovers. Bring the whole family and come hungry because there’s something for every palate. Rumor has it that Foodees may even try to set a Guinness World Record this year!
