Garden City Jazz

GardenCityJazz  is the #1 resource for Jazz Concerts, Festivals, Special Events & Education for Augusta's River Region.

Garden City Jazz presents several programming and performance opportunities for area jazz musicians and music students, while promoting awareness of the historical and cultural significance of jazz music.

Soirée: Jazz and Wine (Augusta)

  • Jessye Norman School of The Arts
  • Recurring monthly on the 4th Saturday

Jazz Soiree (Augusta): Since its inception in January 2014, JazzSoiree has featured classic jazz music performed by the area’s top artists, and various wines selected by the host. All presented with state-of-the-art sound and lighting in a beautiful, historic building - the Jessye Norman School of the Arts.

In keeping with the tradition of adding a new element each season, for 2017, GMT:RealX (Gray Mayfield's outreach project) presents a program of newly arranged jazz standards and contemporary music - inviting guest artists and engaging the audience in new ways with each performance.

This new convergence of music, movement, and art received an aesthetic upgrade in the move to the Ann & Ellis Johnson Gallery. Both the gallery and the school are named for pillars of the creative community in the Augusta River Region, and the gallery is host to the finest displays of professional and student art in the area.

Expect an evening of live music with an infusion of creativity and collaboration - everything from dance, performance art, and the spoken word. JazzSoiree is live jazz and lovely people indeed.

Dress… like you mean it.

Labor Day Jazz Weekend

  • Columbia County Amphitheater

Visitors and residents in Augusta, Georgia, will have plenty to do during the 2017 Labor Day holiday weekend, as Garden City Jazz has partnered with several downtown businesses and event producers to present a full complement of activities between September 1-3, 2017. From trolley and craft brewery tours to music events, gallery crawls to fashion demos, a block party and a rooftop soiree, for all ages and preferences.

“It’s important that we attract (and provide activities for) family reunions and casual visitors to the downtown area. There are so many attractions and beautiful spaces here, and if we provide a great experience, then they’ll return… and bring friends. We’ve got to let people know that we’re here,” said director Karen Gordon.

Garden City Jazz presents several programs annually in the Greater Augusta Area, providing performance opportunities for area jazz musicians and music students, while promoting awareness of the historical and cultural significance of jazz music. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the James Brown Academy of Musik Pupils and the Wycliffe Gordon Scholarship at Augusta University.

White Dinner Augusta

Described by some as a performance art picnic, WHITE DINNER – AUGUSTA is a pop-up dinner party held in the Greater Augusta (Georgia) River Region.  Modeled after the hugely popular Diner en Blanc, guests dress in white and dine al fresco from picnic baskets they’ve packed beforehand.

The inaugural WHITE DINNER - AUGUSTA was held in downtown Augusta onsite at the annual Labor Day Weekend Jazz Festival, hosted by Garden City Jazz. Dinner guests had premium seating and enjoyed two events for the price of one.

The 2017 event location will be announced the day of the event.
