From indie pop to alt-rock, Augusta has it all. If you're trying to find something to do with your friends that won't break the bank, is accessible for teenagers, or maybe you're just looking for some new music...we've got you covered. Check out some of these popular playing spots where all ages are welcome and who knows? Maybe you'll find a new favorite local artist too!
Edgar's Above Broad
Known for both their exceptional food and their gorgeous views of Downtown Augusta, Edgar’s Above Broad is a great spot for acoustic jams. From musicians like Jay and Adam from Straw Boss (@strawboss.augustaga) who have brought their country twang’ to the rooftop and Tara and Erin (@taraanderin) who’ve brought the sweet sounds of their ukulele and flute, dining at Edgar’s is an all-around good time!
Southbound Smokehouse
Not only is Southbound Smokehouse known for their riverfront dining, but their weekly live music as well. They host artists like the Scarlet Begonias, a musical tribute band playing to the “timeless sounds of the Grateful Dead (@scarletbegoniastribute)" and Mackenzie Blake (@itsmackenzieblake), a singer/songwriter. Southbound Smokehouse really does have something for everyone and is BOUND to leave you with a full stomach and a new favorite local artist.
Broad Axe Throwing Club
Broad Axe Throwing Club celebrated their grand re-opening axe-travaganza early 2022, but don’t let the flying axes distract you from the live music available! Estimated Principles (@estimatedprinciples), an alternative rock band with grunge and hard rock influences, and Tempest (@tempesttheband), a rock/metal band have set the stage for more live music to be played in the future. So, keep an eye out both when you’re throwing those axes and for future shows.
Moonlight Music Cruise
If you're looking for a more relaxing outing, consider riding the Augusta Canal’s Petersburg Boat on the Moonlight Music Cruise and enjoy a picnic over the water. The music cruise offers rides with everything from classic R&B like Keith Gregory (@misterkeithmusic) to She N She (@shenshesounds), with indie/folk-rock music. Even singer and songwriter entertainment is offered, like the powerhouse vocals of Christian Ndeti (@chrisndeti) who pays tribute to women in the music industry.
Although Augusta is known for the “Godfather of Soul”, our city offers everything from jazz to heavy metal. Whether you like country, rock, soul, or a little bit of everything, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer! See our calendar for music events.
