It’s one of the souths biggest debates, Carolina gold or that red stuff? You probably figured out my preference, but I’ll tell you the best places to get either one, and you can let me know which wins in your book.
And when we say barbecue, we don’t mean hamburgers and hot dogs. We mean ribs, tenderloins, and chicken smothered in delicious sauce and served up with southern sides.
Southbound Smokehouse is a more modern-day smokehouse with really good BBQ nachos! Plus one of their locations has a great baseball field view and a fully stocked bar. What should you order? The Crummy Bowl - A mash-up of hash, rice, and topped with pulled pork.
Fielding Brothers BBQ Shack combines smoked wings and grilled pork chops. What should you order? The Chopped Pork BBQ Plate - A slow cooked pork shoulder in the signature sauce with baked beans and potato salad.
The Pot Smoker BBQ before even getting close you can smell food cooking outside even if your car windows are rolled up. It’s that fresh! What should you order? The Beef-O-Saurus Rib Plate - Large ribs with a side of mac-n-cheese and cole slaw.
Sconyer’s Bar-B-Que once served at the White House for Jimmy Carter and includes an “ole-timey” feel with staff dressed back in the day! What should you order? The T-Loin Plate - A tenderloin plate with homemade potato salad and hash.
Carolina Bar-B-Que named one of ‘The South’s Top 50 Barbecue Joints” by Southern Living magazine and has been labeled by the South Carolina Bar-B-Que Association - and it is so deserved! What should you order? The Large BBQ Chicken Plate - A half of BBQ chicken with fried okra and yams.
Dukes Bar-B-Que is family owned (as the best ones are) and founded 45 years ago. Their buffet has re-opened for Wednesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM. What should you order? We suggest ordering the Barbecue from the Buffet with a side of fried okra, collard greens, and banana pudding for dessert.
