October 3rd 2019 7-9 pm, SECURITY FEDERAL :: 1109 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901
Artist Sara Searle and Chef JD Wier come together to create a beautiful meal experience in the upcoming Security Federal Bank lobby, previously the home of the Augusta Genealogical Society. This building was constructed in 1924 by Georgia Railroad Bank & Trust and was its first branch location apart from their main office. Security Federal will use historic tax credits to preserve its original use as a bank. See it before the historic renovation begins. Chef and owner of Noble Jones, JD Wier's career spans from roadside dives to high-end Charleston eateries to private clubs from Augusta to Texas. He is known for his funky twist on timeless Southern classics. An Augusta native, Sara studied studio art and art education at Furman University followed by post-graduate studies in Italy. She taught art formally for 9 years and now teaches classes and camps in her home studio. Continually inspired by the beauty of nature and the power of colors, her art has evolved from a free-form painting approach to more precise designs in mixed media. Recent work incorporates colored pencil, gouache, acrylic, and watercolor to create floral art on birch panels, up-cycled wood and paper. Sara’s art can be found locally at Art on Broad and West End Collective and in Madison, GA at Zeb Grant Designs.
