Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society

Over the course of 25 years, the HJCMS has presented six world-class concerts each year, including 30 string quartets, 24 piano trios, 15 brass, woodwind or guitar ensembles, 20 piano soloists or duos, and several chamber orchestras and other combinations of musicians. Most of the performers have won prestigious competitions and performed in the great concert halls around the world, both before and after their appearance on our series. The tradition continues in the 2015-16 season with an outstanding lineup of world-class, world-traveled soloists and ensembles. The Society expresses its appreciation to the Lyceum Committee of Augusta University for its mutual cooperation in providing the venue for our concerts.

Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society presents the Morgenstern Piano Trio

  • Summerville Campus, Augusta University

The Morgenstern Trio will perform both French repertoire and music from their native Germany. They have been compared to the legendary Beaux Arts Trio by the Washington Post, and have been awarded honors at competitions in Germany, the US, Austria, and Australia.

Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society presents the Akropolis Reed Quintet

  • Summerville Campus, Augusta University

This quintet performs on an unusual set of instruments, but the result is an unforgettable sonic experience. The combination of saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, and bassoon requires that much of their music is either newly-composed, or new arrangements of music composed for a different medium. The Akropolis has commissioned at least 25 new works. A concert not to be missed!
