We invite you to join us for our monthly Mindfulness Meditation & Meal get-together at the Lotus Buddhist Temple (924 W Martintown Rd, North Augusta).
The main purpose of these sessions is to create a casual, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere for people of all backgrounds and traditions, newcomers as well as experienced meditators, to collectively strengthen the practice of living in the present moment. Our hope is that our togetherness and shared practice will deepen our sense of well being, compassion, loving-kindness, as well as build long-lasting friendship.
Our session format may varies slightly each month, however, the main activities will typically include:
_ Welcoming/introduction (5-10 minutes)
_ Sitting meditation (15-20 minutes)
_ Book reading/dharma recitation (10-15 minutes)
_ Dharma sharing (15 – 20 minutes)
_ Mindfulness singing or walking meditation (5 - 10 minutes)
_ Light potluck dinner
The abbot Thich Vien Chon of the Lotus Buddhist Temple has graciously offered us the use of the temple’s rear building as our (very modest) “loving-kindness meditation hall” (when available, he will also join us). If you can, please bring a small dish for sharing but it’s not necessary (your presence is more important).
