Sometimes you just need a long weekend. And this is that weekend. So, pack your bag and make plans to spend it in Augusta. You'll sip champagne at an art unveiling, watch a terrible 80s film with awesome people, groove the night away to live music, eat great food and take food coma induced naps. Because what else are long weekends for?!
The Olde Town Inn - On the edge of downtown in Georgia's oldest neighborhood, this charming inn is the perfect place to spend a long weekend. Night owls will love hanging out at the Fox's Lair - a local bar beneath the inn with a warm atmosphere and regular live music.
Thursday Night (1/26)
Bubbly and art at The Morris. Be among the first to see two new paintings by South Carolina artist, Johnathan Green. Widely recognized as one of America's most outstanding African American artists - you won't want to miss his colorful depictions of Southern culture and traditions.
Friday Night (1/27)
Bad movie with awesome people at Le Chat Noir. Grab a drink and chat with directors Rachel Miller and Lizzy Duff. Afterwards, sit back and enjoy the 1988 movie, Scarecrows. Long story short: criminals hijack a plane and force the pilot and his daughter to fly them to Mexico. However, an unexpected landing finds them in a cemetery inhabited by killer scarecrows. Pass the popcorn, please.
Saturday Night (1/28)
Live music and dancing at Sky City. Pick out your Afro, put on your fly collar shirt and platform shoes, and be ready to dance the night away to a live tribute to the best of Parliament Funkadelic by Atlanta's ATL Dreamvision. In the words of George Clinton, do fries go with that shake?
Enjoying a beautiful day downtown with family and getting outside in this warm weather we had today. Stopped by a few of our favorite places, @westobou being one. Although they are only open by appointment only on the weekends it's still fun to see their artwork. Definitely going to make another trip by to see Seeds, showing a lot of my favorite local artists! If you haven't yet, go treat yoself. #westobou #augustaga #downtownaugusta #art #artgallery #localart
Snapping a selfie with the James Brown statue on Broad Street.
Shopping at eclectic boutiques downtown.
This gorgeous work of art comes from one of our most recent consigners, @freshwaterdesignco . This sister-team creates prints and burned wood signs from original designs. With metal accents on some pieces and painted highlights on others, these creative works are refreshing and fun! #csra #shopdowntownaugustaga #fern #woodburning
