Poison Peach Film Festival
Friday January 03 - Sunday January 05, 2014
A variety of exciting new films by local filmmakers will have their debut at Augusta's Sixth Poison Peach Film Festival.
Organized by Christopher Forbes of Forbes film, the Poison Peach Film Festival showcases the diverse offerings of Augusta’s own film community, and this year’s event spotlights short films in a variety of genres from independent filmmakers Stephen Gilliam, Dan Beck, Joshua Seymour, Jonathan Cook, Michael Hennessy, Karlton Clay and Yannik Cartier.
Poison Peach is also proud to present award-winning student productions from Davidson’s Fine Arts School and, for the first time, several shorts from Georgia Regents University’s film department. Saturday night’s feature presentation will be the world premiere of Christopher Forbes’ Civil War drama Confederate Cavalry, which features many actors and re-enactors from Georgia and South Carolina, including Jerry Chesser, Tripp Courtney, John Hudson, Charles Kizer, Will Adams, Stan Fink, Jezibell Anat, Kimberly Campbell, Dave Long, and Brad Owens.
Sunday night is a production event for a new film, Cabaret Diabolique, a dark musical of love, betrayal, mystery and murder, featuring original songs by Christopher Forbes and Jezibell Anat with a script by Jezibell Anat and Joseph Zuchowski,. Everyone is invited to be an audience extra for theatrical dance performances, some of which end in an onstage murder, and a magic act with a specially-built torture machine. Come and enjoy a bloody good time!
